Michael D. Rodríguez was elected the 22nd Ward Democratic Committeeman in 2016.
Mike has received various leadership awards including being named by President Barack Obama as one of 12 national ‘Champions of Change’ in Youth Violence Prevention. He was the recipient of the McCormick-Tribune Fellowship for leadership in Community Development and also received the Elizabeth Butler Distinguished Alumni Award, from the University of Chicago. He received the Neighborhood Housing Services, Community Impact Award in 2016.
Mike is currently the Executive Officer of the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office under Board President Toni Preckwinkle, where he oversees a $14 million budget and 120 employees working at the end of the criminal justice system. He was also the Executive Director of Enlace Chicago for six years where he saw exponential growth and received numerous recognitions for his efforts. Enlace is a charitable organization with an annual budget of $5 million and a staff of 200 that works on Community Development, Education and Violence Prevention
Mike completed a Master of Arts from the University of Chicago, School of Social Service Administration with a concentration in Community Organizing, Planning and Development. He also received a Bachelors Degree from DePaul University and has received a leadership certificate from Notre Dame and studied the social welfare system in Costa Rica.
Mike served on the Illinois Juvenile Justice Commission as appointed by Governor Pat Quinn. Mike has served on the Public Safety Transition Committees of Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle and City of Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel. He was Vice President of the National Council of La Raza Affiliate Council, and was a Fellow with Leadership Greater Chicago and the W.K. Kellogg Foundation National Community Leadership Fellowship. He serves on the Executive Board of the Juvenile Justice Institute and the Advisory Board of Second Federal- Self Help Credit Union.
Mike is a lifelong resident of the 22nd Ward, where he lives with his wife Jacqueline, daughter Sophia Mar and their dog, Kahlo.
